Crick Pre-School

Our Sessions

Monday - Friday (term-time only - see diary for term dates)

9am - 12pm and 12pm - 3pm (packed lunch required in afternoon session)

Music and Movement in the school hall is held on Wednesday mornings (linked with weekly planning) and Friday mornings (accompanied by a pianist).

Structured PE activities, in the school hall, are held every Thursday morning.

Children can start Pre-School at the beginning of the half-term in which they turn 2½.


Session costs

Funded Early Education and Childcare can be used for 3 or 4 year olds and qualifying 2 year olds to cover the full cost of each session (currently up to a maximum of 5 sessions per week (15 hours of Universal Entitlement or 10 sessions per week if you qualify for the Extended Entitlement of 30 hours. For those children too young to qualify, or for additional sessions in the week, the costs are as follows:

3 hour session £ 14.00
6 hour session £ 28.00

Help with paying for your childcare:
Please visit the Childcare Choices website for information about help paying for childcare including Funded Early Education and Childcare for 2, 3 & 4 year olds, tax-free childcare, tax credits for childcare, universal credit for childcare, childcare vouchers and support while you study.

Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)
The EYPP is additional funding available for investment in improving outcomes for children. Children are eligible if they are 3 or 4 years old and receiving Funded Early Education and Childcare and you are in receipt of one or more of the benefits used to access eligibility for free school meals. If eligible, the premium will be used to improve the facilities, equipment and learning experiences to benefit the growth and development of your child.

A typical session

Free flow is operational for every session, giving your child a choice of inside or outside play and activities at all times (except in heavy rain). Throughout the session adult-led key worker activities also take place.

09.00 Registration and circle time
09.15 A variety of craft, role play, messy and construction activities available inside and out
09.30 PE in the school hall
10:00 Snacks available
10.30 Free play between outdoor/indoor environment
12.00 End of morning session
12.10 Lunch for those attending afternoon session
13.00 Registration and circle time
13.15 Free play between outdoor/indoor environment
14.15 Snacks available
14.45 Story time
15.00 End of afternoon session

The areas we cover in Pre-School on a daily basis are:
Mark making (chalks, stencils, templates)
Sand/water or other malleable materials
Art and craft and also a free access trolley with design and craft materials on Construction (large or small) and floor activities
Challenge / Maths table
Role play area (hairdressers, doctors, shop, house, office etc)
Small world (farm, dolls house etc)
Music and movement
Outdoor play equipment (slide, climbing frame, tricycles, footballs, hoops, den, tunnels etc)
